A contemporary naturalistic garden in Ambleside designed to reconnect the house with the surrounding Lakeland landscape. The large sloping rear garden was completely re-imagined with elevated seating terraces, two wildlife ponds and a rediscovered culvert transformed into a cascading cobbled stream weaving through the site. Meandering pathways lead through meadow planting and a small orchard of dwarf fruit trees, creating a gradual transition from the garden into the wider countryside landscape and distant fell views. Native hedging, resilient low-maintenance planting and reclaimed on-site materials were used throughout to create a relaxed, wildlife-friendly landscape with strong seasonal interest and a natural sense of place.
